Photography and filming on UQ locations

The University of Queensland has guidelines for taking photos or filming at all our locations.

All requests are considered in line with the academic calendar.

Taking photos

We welcome our staff, students and community to enjoy our spaces, but there are some restrictions around taking photos and sharing them online.

Personal photography

Photography for personal use, including graduation photos, is permitted at anytime. Images may be shared on personal social media accounts but can't be used in promotional or paid posts.

Media photography

All media requesting to undertake photography on should contact the Communication team by emailing communications@uq.edu.au or phoning +61 429 056 139.

Commercial photography

We have strict rules around photography and videography on our locations for any commercial activity. External organisations must request permission to organise photoshoots on UQ locations by emailing brand@uq.edu.au.

If there is an existing relationship with UQ, please outline this in your request to expedite the process.

Wedding/engagement photos

All requests for wedding photography on UQ locations should be directed to seo@pf.uq.edu.au or by calling 3365 1234.

Filming

External organisations can request permission to film on UQ locations. All requests will be considered to ensure the filming is appropriate and that the necessary security and insurance requirements are in place.

All filming approvals are subject to the submission of a current public liability insurance certificate. UQ keeps copies of these on file for most major media organisations, so it may not be necessary to seek this certificate for every media filming request.

Media film requests

All media crews requesting to film at our locations should contact the Communication team by emailing communications@uq.edu.au or phoning +61 429 056 139. This includes filming for documentaries.

Other film requests

All other non-media filming requests, including commercial, must be submitted to the Brand and Creative team by emailing brand@uq.edu.au.

Ensure you provide sufficient time and a detailed scope of the project to allow requests to be assessed appropriately.

Flying drones

Flying a drone at a UQ location must have approval.
