Overview
Background
Perinatal Implementation Scientist & Group Leader:
I am a perinatal implementation scientist specialising in stillbirth prevention, safer perinatal care, consumer partnership, equity, and health-system improvement. Since 2018, I have worked at Mater Research, leading programs that translate evidence into practice and policy to improve pregnancy outcomes. My vision is to turn evidence into safer and more equitable perinatal care, locally and at scale.
I am Group Lead of the Perinatal Implementation, Equity and Research for Safer Care (PIERS) group at Mater Research Institute–The University of Queensland, a Senior Research Fellow within the NHMRC Stillbirth Centre of Research Excellence (CRE), and a Mater Research Career Track Fellow. I also co-lead the CRE's programs in implementing stillbirth prevention strategies and consumer engagement.

Research impacts
My research improves pregnancy outcomes by strengthening the implementation of evidence-based care across maternity health systems. As National Lead of the Safer Baby Bundle, I led implementation and evaluation activities that supported widespread adoption across Australian maternity services, contributing to a 21% reduction in stillbirths across 19 Victorian services.
My work has informed national stillbirth prevention policy, clinical practice, quality improvement initiatives, and public awareness campaigns. Through the MRFF funded Safer BabySEEK and SPARK programs, I am generating evidence and implementation strategies to improve help-seeking, access to care, and health system responsiveness, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, young parents, Autistic expectant parents, and those in early pregnancy.
By partnering with parents, clinicians, health services and policy makers, my research accelerates the translation of evidence into practice while advancing more equitable, person-centred perinatal care.
