Dereje Gete

Dr Dereje Gete is a Research Fellow at the Australian Women and Girls’ Health Research Centre, School of Public Health. Dr Gete was awarded his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Queensland in 2022. His doctoral dissertation examined the role of pre-pregnancy dietary patterns on adverse birth outcomes, child health, and well-being, using the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health and the Mothers and their Children's Health study.

Dr Gete is currently conducting epidemiological research using large population-based cohort studies, including the Genetic variants, Early Life exposures, and Longitudinal Endometriosis symptoms Study (GELLES) and Mothers and their Children’s Healthcare Experience Study (MatCHES), linked with national administrative health databases. His research focuses on advancing understanding of women's and children's health through longitudinal and linked-data epidemiology, with particular interests in endometriosis, nutrition, and infectious disease epidemiology.
