Overview

Background

Ms Trang Dang is a Research Fellow and a PhD candidate in the Medical School at the University of Queensland, based at the Prince Charles Hospital. She works in health economics and health services research, with a focus on understanding how Australians use the hospital system, and what this means for costs and patient outcomes. She also contributes to teaching in the School of Economics, including guest lectures and tutoring.

She is a Chief Investigator on an NHMRC-funded grant, where she analyses large, linked datasets covering millions of hospital admissions across Australia to better understand preventable hospitalisations, providing evidence to inform hospital funding and health system planning. Her research has also been recognised with an award at the Cardiac Society of Australia and New ZealandAnnual Scientific Meeting.

Before joining UQ, Ms Dang completed Master's degrees in Health Economics and Development Economics, which sparked her interest in the economic and policy dimensions of healthcare in Australia. She is motivated by research that has a direct, practical bearing on how hospital resources are allocated and how patient care can be improved.
