Melioidosis
I am interested in the epidemiology, diagnosis, and clinical management of Burkholderia pseudomallei, the causative agent of melioidosis. My work aims to improve diagnostic accuracy and early detection through integrated clinical and microbiological approaches. Ultimately, I’m driven to strengthen evidence‑based management strategies that reduce the substantial morbidity and mortality associated with this challenging infectious disease.
-
Cryptococcus
I am interested in the epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, management, and outcomes of cryptococcal infections, with a particular focus on comparing Cryptococcus neoformans and C. gattii across different geographic regions of Queensland. My work aims to identify risk factors for infection by examining co‑morbidities, environmental exposures, and host immune and cytokine responses.
