Immune Response to stroke (2008-2012)

Abstract

Collect blood from people with stroke, as well as healthy people and people with other diseases of the brain. In this blood, CI will measure the numbers of white blood cells and immune cells to see whether stroke patients have an increased immune response to stroke. Early studies suggest that this is the case, and it is thought that the immune response to stroke my play a role in healing and damage. To obtain sufficient numbers, patients will be recruited from the stroke units at the Wesley Hospital and the RBWH.
