Trouble at the bottom: Exploring the limits of Fermi liquid theory through dimensionless ratios (2013-2016)
Abstract
We aim to understand the limits of validity of the unified theory of the dimensionless Kadowaki-Woods ratio in strongly correlated metals and to discover new universal ratios in strongly correlated metals. This will allow us to probe the limits of Fermi liquid theory, the standard model of metals, and propose new experimental tests for non-Fermi liquids. Strongly correlated materials show remarkable properties that could lead to dramatic knew technologies if we can learn to understand and control them. However, this has proved an extremely challenging task. Dimensionless ratios represent a powerful tool for better understanding these materials and hence unlocking their potential.
