Ion Implanted Polymers as New Plastic Electronic and Superconducting Materials (2005-2007)
Abstract
We have recently created a revolutionary new class of superconducting plastic materials using ion implantation. In this project we aim to exploit this finding to create novel plastic electronic and superconducting devices such as soft SQUIDs and Josephson Junctions. Our new superconductors are mechanically flexible and robust chemically resilient and suitable for nano and micropatterning. Additionally since our process is highly tuneable we also intend to create a family of materials to study the physics of superconductivity in low dimensions. Hence we anticipate significant outcomes in both applied and fundamental aspects of electronic and superconducting materials.
