The Regionalisation of Peace Operations: Legitimacy, Effectiveness and Stable Peace (2006-2008)
Abstract
This project will assess which types of actors (UN, regional organisations, coalitions of the willing, individual states) make the most effective contribution to international peace and security through peace operations. By applying a well-developed framework of analysis to every post-1945 peace operation, the project will identify the types of actors that are most effective in different types of conflict situations. By combining a framework with exhaustive empirical analysis this project will make a path-breaking and definitive contribution to the debate about which types of actors are most effective in peace operations and how those actors have changed over time.
