Neurotrophic Active Natural Products: Total Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Neovibsanins A and B, and Analogues (2006-2008)
Abstract
Natural products continue to be a source of academic learning, new methodology and student training. Equally important is that natural products are a source of molecules that act as leads for new drugs to improve health care. This project will explore new regions of chemical space and deliver novel chemical entities based on the natural product leads neovibsanin A and B. Biological evaluation coupled with rational drug design will aid in understanding and rebuilding damage inflicted by neurodegenerative diseases.
