Nuclear structure and precision tests of fundamental physics in atoms (2025-2027)
Abstract
This project aims to deduce some of the best information on nuclear structure properties through precision evaluation of their effects in atoms, ions, and exotic muonic atoms. This will be utilised to control problematic nuclear structure uncertainties in precision atomic searches for new physics beyond the Standard Model. We expect that our project will provide important tests of microscopic nuclear models, drive new experimental programs at major international laboratories, and significantly increase the capacity to detect new particles and interactions. It will add to the knowledge base of fundamental nuclear physics, and provide high-level training of scientists at the forefront of atomic, nuclear, and particle physics discovery.
