Coastal planning and management
Investigation has centred on a comparative analysis of coastal planning and management frameworks in the major oceans, with a focus on small island states. The research will provide a foundation for developing sustainable coastal plans in a variety of settings.

Integrated Buffer Planning
The development of an innovative, practical planning tool to guide planners in the design of integrated buffers to better conserve the values of environmentally sensitive areas.

Regional planning
With colleagues in government, the development of regional planning documents which contribute to enhanced sustainability.
