Agentic AI Tools for Soft Sensor Development in Mineral Processing
I investigate the use of agentic AI frameworks to automate and enhance soft sensor development for mineral processing plants. My work explores how autonomous agents can handle data preprocessing, model fitting, validation, and providing recommendations for systems such as grinding mills and hydrocyclones. The aim is to accelerate soft sensor deployment, improve robustness under changing ore conditions, and support real-time process optimisation.
-
Soft Sensors for Grinding Mill Performance
I develop advanced soft sensor models to estimate unmeasured variables in grinding mills (SAG and Ball mills), including total and ball fillings and slurry void fraction. My work integrates data analysis, process modelling, optimisation, and state estimation to provide real-time insights for operators. The aim is to enhance process stability, optimise throughput, and reduce energy consumption across comminution circuits.

Model-Based Process Control in Mineral Processing
My research focuses on applying model-based control strategies to complex mineral processing systems, with an emphasis on grinding circuits. I design and evaluate control schemes that incorporate mechanistic models, soft sensors, and adaptive algorithms. The goal is to improve plant robustness, address nonlinearity and disturbances, and achieve consistent product quality under variable ore conditions.
