Overview

Background

Frank’s research interests include political behaviour, political communication, voter attitudes, behaviour change, leadership and evidence-based policy. His research has been published in leading international journals such as Leadership Quarterly, European Journal of Political Research, Political Psychology, Public Administration, West European Politics, Journal of Common Market Studies, Evidence and Policy, China Quarterly and the Australian Journal of Public Administration. His 2017 book The Wealth Paradox (co-authored with Jolanda Jetten and published by Cambridge University Press) has also attracted international attention, and is now widely regarded as having successfully debunked common myths about populist radical right parties and their voter base.

Research impacts

Frank’s political psychology research has been published in a wide range of high-quality peer-reviewed journals. His research is also having considerable impact outside academe. For example, Frank receives regular requests from radio and television stations to analyse current affairs, requests from consultancy firms to be a panellist or guest speaker, and requests from elected politicians to help them gain a deeper understanding of new trends in society. Frank has also published online blogs about his research. For example, his blogs on 'Nudging' have appeared on Democratic Audit UK, and LSE's impact of social science research, and his research on the remarkable appeal of populist radical-right parties in times of economic prosperity featured in an article in the Australian edition of The Guardian.
