
Overview
Background
I am a public health sociologist with research interests in the health and wellbeing of people experiencing marginalisation and the social determinants of (sexual) health. I am the course coordinator of PUBH7033 Foundations of Public Health and PUBH7003 Qualitative Research Methods. I am engaged in social research projects related to HIV, sexual health, young people, LGBTIQ+ health, sex worker health and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Research impacts
I am am a member of a highly productive research team at UQ SPH whose goal is to develop and contribute to innovative multidisciplinary approaches to sexual health and HIV social research, forge and foster collaborations to reduce HIV and STI prevalence and, above all, improve the lives of people. I have lead innovative qualitative research projects and have contributed to the translation of research to policy and practice through active engagement with and membership of government and non-government committees and agencies. I work collaboratively and in partnership with community/key stakeholders in research, to have direct application to community, government and non-government organisations. My research has had direct education, service provsion and policy impact in (sexual) health, HIV services, and sex work policy, both locally and internationally.
