Overview

Background

Chad Chiu receives his PhD in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, USA. As a behavioural scientist specialising in leadership and organisational behaviour, his research examines how leadership can be transformed from an individual role into an organisational capacity—a capability that is shared, sustained, and supported across different levels of the organisation. Central to this work is his interest in leader humility, a developmental resource that helps formal leaders nurture emerging leadership in others. Rather than focusing solely on improving individual leaders, He investigates how leadership practices—especially those grounded in humility—can create environments where more people are encouraged and enabled to take on leadership responsibilities, thereby strengthening the organisation’s long-term leadership capacity.

His research has been published in leading journals in the field of management and organisational studies (FT50/ABDC A*), including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Relations, Journal of Management Studies, Human Resource Management, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Journal of Vocational Behavior. He currently serves as an Associate Editor at Human Relations and sits on the editorial boards of Journal of Organizational Behavior and Journal of Management.
